David Trilling is Professor and Chair of the Department of Astronomy and Planetary Science at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona. He studies the formation and evolution of the Solar System through using both new and archival observations of small Solar System bodies – asteroids, comets, etc. – obtained with telescopes all over the world and in space. He has been co-chair of the LSST Solar System Science Collaboration since 2015. He is also PI of SNAPS, the Solar System Notification Alert Processing System, a ZTF and LSST Solar System alert broker. Northern Arizona University recently achieved recognition as a Hispanic Serving Institution.
